Tony Blair (Richard Tucker), a broadway producer, is murdered on a ship bound for California. Claire Norville (Aileen Pringle) is accused of the murder, but when another murder accurs, Claire is cleared in a twist that explains both murders.

An early talky mystery directed by prolific B-director Christy Cabanne.

Subject: Worth watching
I rated this high because of the presence of Miss Dorothy Christy. She radiated confidence and self-assurance and must have been a real handful on a date!

Subject: Uhhhgh!
Absolutely horrid acting for an even more boring movie with terrible sound..
If the acting was even close to decent I might have gutted the whole thing out, but it woke me up to turn it off.
I would recommend it if you were stuck in jail for the night..but the cockroaches might be more entertaining if the noise from the violent crazies didn't keep you awake.

Subject: Love Boat
Interesting the entire movie is aboard ship. I liked that all the subspects were introduced before the event, then see who; done-it. Three stars Would watch again.

Subject: Poor, Noisy Film
The most interesting thing about the movie is that it seemed to be entirely filmed onboard an ocean liner. That might have been enough for a movie in the 1890s. The story here is poorly told and crafted. It's more than half over before the first murder occurs. Until then, nothing much of interest happens. Oh, there's one suspicious character. It's obvious who will be, and is, accused. Another murder occurs. The captain still thinks it's the same person, though the suspect was confined. that's right. The criminologist stumbles upon the guilty party, and reveals the culprit to the captain. Nothing interesting there, either.

Charlie Chan in Honolulu, Sidney Toler's first movie as Chan, is a murder mystery set aboard a ship with a similar motive involved. Best, it's a good movie with lots to it. I suggest watching that in lieu of this turkey.

I downloaded the 562MB MPEG4. The audio is threatened with being overwhelmed with noise through most of the movie. Video quality is Ok.
